Oregon Shakespeare Festival Partners with Stellar to Reach a Global Audience

OSF will now be able to share their acclaimed productions with even more people around the globe.

"All the world's a stage," Shakespeare famously posited in his 1599 comedy As You Like It.

Well, thanks to Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s new partnership with Stellar, one of the country's most renowned producers of the Bard's works will now be able to share their acclaimed productions of comedies, tragedies, histories, and beyond with even more people around the globe — truly making the entire world their stage.

More than 400,000 people already make the pilgrimage to Ashland, Oregon each year to enjoy great theatre from Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), and its O! Digital Stage initiative includes popular online events like Theatre on Film: live-hosted watch virtual parties showcasing filmed captures of select in-person repertory productions.

OSF's O! Digital Stage will now be powered by Stellar's industry-leading platform, bringing both traditional stagings of Shakespeare classics and groundbreaking new works to audiences who may otherwise have not been able to experience Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s shows in person.

This October, several OSF productions will be presented on the Stellar platform, including:

  • Revenge Song: A Vampire Cowboys Creation, a musical story by Qui Nguyen about transgressive 17th-century opera singer Julie d'Aubigny and directed by Nguyen’s Vampire Cowboys partner Robert Ross Parker.
  • Shakespeare's The Tempest, directed by Nicholas C. Avila with cinematography by Tyler Maddox.
  • King John, a fresh take on Shakespeare’s rarely staged play by visionary director Rosa Joshi and featuring a cast of female and non-gender-binary performers; presented in association with upstart crow collective.

OSF Associate Artistic Director and Director of Innovation & Strategy Scarlett Kim shared her enthusiasm about the new partnership, praising Stellar as “an organization whose commitment to innovating the definition of theatrical storytelling is in deep alignment with OSF.”

“As OSF's O! Digital Stage grows,” Kim added, “I look forward to nurturing this strategic partnership centered around cutting-edge digital presentation of theatre, and robust research and development on reimagining liveness and interactivity for the virtual landscape.”
